How to: Braided Top Knot

One of the girls I subscribe to on YouTube, Juicystar07, just posted a Top knot hair tutorial, and I decided to try it out. I'm really loving these high bun type hairstyles right now because they're quick and easy. It's the cure to bad hair days!

My video is really similar to hers, but I added a couple steps. So here's the finished look and my video response:

Satin Taupe...

I love easy, quick makeup looks!

Lately, I've been going to my liquid eyeliner and mascara and calling it good. When you have to wake up early, get ready for school and get your toddler ready for the day, there just isn't enough time to play around with eyeshadow.

However, I recently purchased Satin Taupe from MAC and discovered a quick eye look.

I put Satin Taupe all over my lid, a medium matte brown all over the crease and  lightly placed a plum color on the outer crease.

(excuse the eyebrows!)

Enjoy!

Outfit of the Day: Sweater Addiction...

I am loving sweaters and cardigans this month. I've worn one almost everyday so far, and I don't see it ending  anytime soon. They are super comfy and you can dress them up or down depending on the look you're going for. I wore this to run errands with my son and meet with a school group later in the evening.

I've also rediscovered high buns this month. Growing up, I always wore my hair in a bun, being one of the only things I knew how to do with my hair. Once I learned to do other things with it, the bun was thrown to the wayside. I was watching a video on YouTube recently, and the girl in it had a cute high bun. So I thought that I'd give it a try, and I'm loving it!

I wear these boots with almost everything. I need new boots...

I love this owl necklace. Though, it makes a lot of noise when I walk...

I can pretty much guarantee that my next outfit of the day will be another sweater look. You just can't go wrong with them this season. Enjoy!

Wolverine PR Trade show...

The semester is finally over!
It has been one of my most stressful, yet rewarding semesters of school. I had the opportunity to be in the PR Firm class and take on real clients while working with an amazing group of people. I've been trying to get involved and take on more responsibilities at school to add more to my resume. Meaning, I willingly volunteered to be the account executive for our group. Though I had a great team and the experience taught me a lot, I now have a new found appreciation for group/team leaders (especially when dealing with PR).

Our client was the Utah Valley University Student Association (UVUSA), and our goal was to raise awareness about organ donation while encouraging students to register as donors. UVU was part of a statewide college competition to get as many people to register as possible. The winning school and the runner-up receive scholarship money for their students. The results are being tallied and will be released in January.

We organized a UVU movie night with Water Gardens Cinema 6 to raise awareness, invited guest speakers to share their personal experiences about organ donation and set up tables throughout campus and at Make a Difference Day on Oct. 23 to get people to register.

My team was amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better group. We won second place at our end of semester trade show and I'm so proud of what we were able to accomplish.

My amazing group minus Justin (we missed you)!

To register as an organ donor, go to YesUtah.org. It takes a few minutes, but it makes a huge difference. Even if you registered through your driver's license, do it through YesUtah as well. It saves important time when organs are involved.

Some of my current Loves...

I have so many favorite things in my life, so I decided to do a post of some of them. Here's just a few of my current loves:

My tree! Our tree before this was puny, and I couldn't stand it anymore. It's 6 1/2 feet and pre-lit, for a grand total of $38. Gotta love Walmart!

I had my necklaces hanging on one nail. Needless to say, getting one off the nail to wear proved to be very time consuming. I found these key ring hooks at Target. It cost about $6 and life is just a little bit simpler because of them.

I have a sick cupcake obsession! This one is called Party in Your Mouth and it lives up to its name. It has a Nutella center, and I have a weakness for chocolate hazelnut. The Cocoa Bean Cafe  has made Thursdays a good day (this cupcake is a Thursday flavor).

To put it mildly, I have complicated skin. It's dry and oily, flaky and greasy and can't forget the breakouts (though, they are improving quite a bit). To counter the harshness of my acne medication, I needed something more than just my moisturizer. The Make Up Forever HD Elixer came with a sample set I bought at Sephora, and I fell in love after the first use. It's not really anything special, but it helped keep the flakiness at bay when nothing else seemed to work. Now, it's part of my daily routine.

Sugar Lip Treatment is the best lip moisturizer ever! A little on the pricey side, but my lips have never been so grateful to me.

I have never loved another mascara as much as this one. Maybelline's the Falsies mascara is amazing. It lengthens, plumps and curls. I will never buy another... (well, for now...)

I'm loving my blue scarf from Forever 21! It was about $6 and it has become a staple in my wardrobe. The shade is vibrant and is great for me because I tend to wear more neutral colors. Doesn't it just pop?

More to come!

Outfit of the Day - Angel of mine...

This week has been crazy! I don't really have any finals, but I have final projects/papers/presentations. Two classes officially done, two more to go...

P.S. I went to the mall last night, and I have learned that I cannot walk out of Forever 21 empty-handed. It's a sickness...

This is what I wore for the first part of the day. I had to present in a trade show later on and changed into business attire. I apologize for the quality of the photos. I didn't realize they weren't good until after I uploaded them.

My favorite part has to be the shirt, though the jeans are a close second. The flowiness of the shirt is flattering for every figure and pairing it with tight skinny jeans give the look a slender effect.

Love the detail on the jeans (sorry it's not clear)!

Though this isn't necessarily an everyday look, it is still versatile. I would wear this on a night out with the girls or the hubby, but you can make it work for anything.

Jeans: Bohme Boutique
Boots: Bohme Boutique
Necklace: Forever 21

When I wear this again, I'll redo the post.

Outfit of the Day - Cozy, lazy and cute...

Today was one of those days that I struggled to get out of bed and tried to justify skipping school. Alas, it's the end of the semester, so I can't afford to miss anything. This is how I came up with this look. It's comfy, didn't take a lot of effort and still looks good. I love those looks!

This look works because it's warm, casual, stylish and you can wear it anywhere like school, your children's play dates and even running errands. You can dress it up or down, according to your needs. My favorite part is the sweater. You can wear it with anything!

Sweater: Forever 21
Shirt: Wetseal
Jeans: Bohme Boutique (local)

Welcome!

I'm not really going to introduce myself since you can just read the about me section, but I do want to let you know a little about the things I enjoy.

I love makeup! I don't have a favorite brand, but some of the ones I like include MAC, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Lancome and Covergirl. I watch Youtube video makeup tutorials. Some of those girls are so talented and helpful. I was completely clueless of how to do makeup until I discovered them, and now I get compliments on my makeup all the time. They are awesome! They also have fashion tips and hair tutorials. So check them out and let me know what you think. Here's links to the ones I subscribe to and really love:

As far as fashion goes, I'm not as knowledgeable. I can appreciate good clothing choices though, and I think Forever 21 is one of the best stores ever. Hautelook is also a great place to get not only clothing, but makeup, kids stuff and even home decor. Through them, you can get amazing deals on pricey brands. You have to join, but they send you daily email to let you know about the sales going on the next day. You'll be amazed at the sales, I promise.

As far as home things go, IKEA is the best place! I have a slight obsession with that place. I'm not allowed to go by myself because my husband is afraid I'll bring the whole store home... and I probably would. They all kinds of furniture and home decor for such a great price. They have something for everyone. And it's fun! Have you guys ever seen 500 Days of Summer? Then you know what I'm talking about. When you're there it's hard not to play! If you haven't, you should.

I'm hoping this blog will be a great tool for me to express myself and connect with others that share the same interests. If ever you want to share something, please do!
